Vanessa Kara Signs with Drexel University for D-I Soccer

Vanessa Kara has just signed a National Letter of Intent with Drexel University. The senior earned a Division 1 soccer scholarship and will be joining the Drexel Dragons next fall.  Kara’s accomplishment was celebrated today in the D’Olier room with her closest family, friends, teachers and coaches.

Following an intense rehabilitation from cruciate ligament tears in both knees, Kara returned for her last soccer season at MFS to lead the Foxes to their first NJSIAA Non-Public B South Championship in Girls’ Soccer program history.  Kara also returned to her club team, PDA, to bury the winning penalty kick and lift the national trophy.

Kara would like to thank everyone who has helped her throughout her high school career. “This day means everything to me. This has been a dream of mine since I was young and for it to be official makes me extremely happy and I feel blessed. I feel blessed and thankful for this community and the support given to me now and throughout the ups and downs of my high school career.”

Keith Harman, Kara’s former club coach and current MFS Girls’ Varsity Soccer coach, has seen Kara grow into the player she is today.  Once the celebration commenced, Harman reflected on Kara’s exceptional achievements.  “I am proud of what she has done. I am going to miss her but I wish her good luck at Drexel,” he said.

As Kara looks forward to the next phase of her soccer career, she can barely contain her excitement.  “I am eager to play at college and to play at the highest level. I can’t wait for the commitment and to play for and represent Drexel University”.
