The varsity girls’ soccer team began their 2018-2019 season with a new head coach and having lost crucial senior players last year.

Senior and Co-Captain Meghan Roberts said, “I was not very optimistic at the beginning of the season. I thought that it would be a very hard battle to maintain our success from last year, but I believe each and everyone of the girls on the team gave it their all.”

The Foxes ended their season 8-8. They fell to Rutgers Prep in the NJSIAA Non-Public B South quarterfinals. In the Friends League, the team fell to Germantown Friends School in the Quaker Cup final.

It was a disappointing end to the season for a team that was the reigning NJSIAA State Champion. But Roberts was proud of the team’s performance despite “hard circumstances” experienced throughout the season.

Despite and partially because of difficulties experienced during the season, the team grew closer. Senior and Co-Captain Micaela Coll said, “Even though we didn’t get the result we wanted, the team really bonded and we had a lot of fun. The banter made the season worth it.”

Senior and Co-Captain Courtney Tartar said, “This was a transition period for the whole team after winning the state championship. The seniors focused their efforts on building a stronger team for years to come.”
