The Seniors Pull Ahead By Lila Smith

On the fourth day of Spirit Week, the Upper School met out on the athletic fields for a fierce tug-of-war battle. The rules were explained and the freshman and senior girls lined up parallel to the rope. The senior girls dragged the freshmen and moved up in the tug tournament. Then the sophomores faced off against the juniors with the juniors winning. Up next, the freshman girls battled it out with the sophomore girls, with the sophomore girls coming out on top. Lastly, the final tug between the juniors and seniors with the senior girls taking the crown.

After the girls tug-of-war tournament the boys went head to head. Up first the freshman boys battled it out against the senior boys with the seniors moving on up in the tournament. Then the sophomores and juniors faced off with the juniors prevailing. After that in a close-fought battle the freshman boys triumphed over the sophomore boys. Finally the seniors and junior boys battled it out in the final tug-of-war game.  Oscar Wan ‘20, a member of the senior boys team, said, “We fought really hard. The juniors are strong plus we lost last year and this year we got back and got revenge for ourselves. Everyone worked hard.”

The Seniors took first place in the boys and girls tournaments. The juniors took second place in the boys and girls tournament. In the girls tournament the sophomore girls got third, while the freshman boys got third in the boys tournament. In last place were  the freshmen in the girls tournament and sophomores in the boys tournament.
