Comedian Bob Saget sadly passed away earlier this month. To honor his legacy in comedy, here are some students’ and teachers’ funniest memories at MFS:

Mr. Omilian remembers how the seniors used to pull pranks on the school before graduation: “So, this one senior class thought it would be funny to fill the oval in the back of the school with sheep. So, they built a good size pen on the oval overnight and they filled it with about 10 sheep. One of the kids had a farm, so he just brought all the sheep to school.”

Mrs. Lubrant’s story also came from a funny senior encounter: “[when I] first started at MFS, my classroom was in room 13, and I had a bookshelf right next to my desk. And one of the bookshelves only had one prong holding it up, so if you leaned on it it would tilt. So one of my seniors at the time came up to me and went to take one of the books off the shelf… knocked the WHOLE thing, so all my books come flying off the shelf.”

Every year, the eighth grade class takes a field trip to Camp Ockanickon. Vanya Weinstock ’23 recalled, “at our Camp Ockanickon trip in 8th grade, Bella Dawson was racing someone to see who could go through the balance beam faster. Bella tried to speed walk through it, and she was talking trash to the rest of us, and then she fell in the muddy, dirty lake. She then got really angry and stomped to her cabin to change.”

Spirit week and airband is a source of many fond memories among students. “I remember when Nick Owens ran through the sliding glass door at Emma Vernick’s house during our freshman year airband practice. He broke the door.”

Trisha Nelson ’22 commented that her favorite memory at MFS was also during spirit week: “My favorite memory at MFS so far was when the senior boys lost tug of war to the ninth grade boys during spirit week this year.”

Bella Dawson ’23 and Esha Patel ’23 both shared a funny memory from their eighth grade advisory:
Bella: “So in eighth grade, we were all in advisor, and we were doing little checkins-”
Esha: “We were making a banner for our advisor, you know how we would make-”
Bella: “Yeah and so our advisor was doing little check-ins with people while everyone was doing it and so she wasn’t paying attention, and Ryan Evans ’23 was messing around and he broke-”
Esha: “NO NO NO he was wrapping the pipe cleaners around the scissors to try to see if he could open it.” Bella: “and so it SNAPPED.”
Esha: “yeah the thing just popped off.”
Bella: “and so we all started screaming and laughing and then Ms. Rosenson came out and asked what happened and Ryan was like ‘nothing’ and then Ryan says he’s going to the bathroom and then he goes to the art room and gets another pair to and Ms. Rosenson goes, ‘WHERE ARE THE SCISSORS?’”
Esha: “AND SHE FIGURED OUT HE SWITCHED THEM CAUSE THE SCISSORS HE BROKE WERE RED NOT BLUE!”

Sulayman Husseyin ’23 says he and his friends have accumulated many funny experiences at MFS. One particular time, “We were talking about SATS. We asked Derrick Phillips ’23 when he was taking it, and he said, ‘Whenever they need me.’ He still says it to this day.”

Sports practices are also a source of funny memories. Shriya Reddy ’23 said, “Okay so when we were at soccer practice, me and another girl bumped into each other and then I fell in like this really muddy spot and got mud all over myself for the rest of practice.”
