Paint-Laying Robot Encourages Sports Pride Charlie Beetham ’24

Before school on Thursday, November 9, 2023, MFS’s paint-laying robot, operated by Maintenance Staffer Kerry Slimm, painted the words “GO MFS FOXES” in the oval in advance of the Boys’ Soccer NJSIAA Championship game on Friday. According to Slimm, the aim of the project is to “show the school spirit … even though [most of the community] can’t be there.” The robot, which is usually programmed to paint the lines on the athletic fields, utilizes a user-friendly application and GPS to plan and paint each line accurately, “tak[ing] out all of the human error.” Video of robot by Kerry Slimm; narration by Charlie Beetham ’24.
