Spirit Week Day 1: Twitter Coverage and Reaction

Fish flew and trays of Jell-O were devoured as #MFSSpiritWeek2018 started off with a bang on Monday afternoon; however it was not the bang that the MFS community has come to expect over the years. In a stunning turn of events, the Class of 2021 swept Boys’ and Girls’ Slimy Fish and Jell-O eating to earn 300 points on Monday afternoon. WordsWorth covered the day’s events on Twitter.

The afternoon’s events, which were slated to begin at 1:07 P.M., started around 1:15 P.M. after MFS Upper Schools congregated on the fields.

Prior to the start of Boys’ Slimy Fish Toss, Mr. Brunswick made sure to douse the hands of the competitors in oil.

Students lined up on the edge of the parking lot and eagerly awaited the events that were soon to come.

Sophomores Harry Kelly and Nolan Schenk earned the Sophomores 100 points by winning the Boy’s Slimy Fish Toss event.

A few minutes and a whole lot of oil later, the Girls’ Slimy Fish Toss began. Olivia Rutherford and Maddie Bouggess outlasted the Juniors to bring home the Sophomore’s second victory of the afternoon.

The final event of the day was Jell-O eating, which Senior Jack Stern arrived to in style.

In yet another stunning turn of events, Sophomore Chase Eni out-ate the three-time defending champion to secure the Sophomore’s third victory of the day.

Once the dust settled, the scoreboard looked like this.
