Juniors Peddle Ahead in Eliminator By Lila Smith '22

Last year Eliminator was slightly different due to COVID-19 but now the Spirit Week event has returned to its original state. However, in a change from previous Eliminators, this one was held outside on the bus pad.

The event had four rounds with the juniors winning the final round against the seniors and taking home 100 points for Eliminator. The event began with egg on a spoon, next was wheelbarrow, then crab walk, after that a sprint, and finally the tricycle.

Multiple people employed unique strategies in order to get a leg up in the competition. Many of the participants involved in the human wheelbarrow and the crabwalk wore gloves or socks on their hands to protect themselves from the asphalt.

Lily Buchdahl, who was a part of the senior team, removed her shoes when riding the tricycle: “I figured that shoes take up unnecessary room that is extremely valuable when you’re peddling.”

However, when the juniors faced off against the seniors in the final round, the juniors got an early lead in egg on a spoon and won the Spirit Week event.
