Spirit Week Begins with Slimy Fish Toss! Lila Smith ’22

Slimy Fish Toss marked the beginning of Spirit Week where eight pairs of two faced off to see who would take home the first points of the week. There were two rounds: first with Group A and second with Group B.

In Group A, the seniors, represented by Danya Weinstock and Connor Hull, pulled ahead, second place ended in a tie between the juniors and the sophomores, and the ninth graders came in last.

In Group B, the sophomores placed first with the seniors closely behind in second. The juniors and the ninth grade tied for third.

Senior Group B fish catchers, Skye Mada ’22 and Bella Pescatore ’22, spoke on their loss to the sophomores.

“Bella and I prepared by throwing around a pencil case. It was good practice, but our actual throwing technique was quite a different ball game,” shared Skye Mada ’22.

Mada’s partner Bella Pescatore explained their downfall: “The fish was not reaching the line, but I tried my hardest to scoop it back up and my nail got caught in the ground and came off.”

Even though the pair lost, Mada was happy about one thing: “At least we beat the juniors.”

Stay tuned for more scores and updates throughout the week, and follow along with Spirit Center on Facebook and Instagram.
